“Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Swasthya Yojana: Transforming Healthcare Accessibility in Rajasthan”
Description: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s visionary initiative, the Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Swasthya Yojana, launched in May 2021, is a groundbreaking effort to make healthcare accessible to all residents of Rajasthan. In response to the growing healthcare affordability challenge in India, this scheme focuses on providing affordable health insurance and cost-effective treatment packages, with a special emphasis on benefiting the economically weaker sections of society.
The Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Swasthya Yojana offers families health insurance coverage worth lakhs of rupees, encompassing a wide range of diseases and accidents. This government-led programme has quickly become the most sought-after health scheme in the state, offering an annual benefit ranging from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 25 lakh, with the potential for an increase to Rs 50 lakh.
What makes this scheme stand out is its extensive coverage, spanning over 1,576 medical procedures, and its flexibility, allowing beneficiaries to access medical treatment in both private and government hospitals. Affordability is a key highlight, with an annual premium as low as Rs 850, translating to just Rs 70.8 per month.
Commencing in 2021, the Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Swasthya Yojana initially provided health insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family, a figure that was later increased to Rs 10 lakh in the subsequent year. Additionally, the government committed Rs 5 lakh for accident treatment. In 2023, the coverage was further expanded to Rs 25 lakh, accompanied by an additional Rs 5 lakh for accident insurance.
This transformative healthcare initiative underscores the commitment of the Rajasthan government to bridge healthcare gaps, offering a lifeline to those who need it most and setting a new benchmark for accessible and affordable healthcare in the region.
